    This Week: In the forums
    >> In the Administrator forum, a SearchWin2000.com member writes, "On our VPN server, which is a RAS server, I noticed DCOM error ID 10003. Does this mean that someone has been trying to access the DCOM server? I also read that when IIS is running in-process, the system account allows RPC Endpoint Mapper access to the DCOM server. Could this error message have anything to do with this new threat and the Blaster worm?"
    >> In the Exchange forum, a SearchWin2000.com member writes, "We have set up a frontend Exchange 2000 topology to be used with OWA. The idea is that it will function as a 'separate private mail' system for users. They log in, send a message to another Exchange member, then log out. The message never leaves the Exchange server. We have come across a problem with notification -- we would ideally like to inform users that they have received a mail in the 'separate private mail' by sending an SMTP message to their 'normal mail address'. Any suggestions?"

    Tip of the Week:
Is your organization more than 9 years behind on your network-migration strategy? The prospect of upgrading through two or three major Windows Server revisions is quite daunting. If you can, I'd suggest scrapping everything and starting over from scratch. The only thing I'd consider re-using from such an ancient network might be the mouse pads.
