Longhorn rollout slips further (eWEEK)
The next release of Windows is without a firm timetable now that Microsoft officials have backed away from an estimated 2005 delivery. Some users say that might be a good thing because it will give the software giant proper time to finish engineering work on what it calls a major change to the Windows platform.

NEWS
Homeland Security urged not to rely on MS (TechWeb)
A computer industry trade group is urging the new U.S. Department of Homeland Security to reconsider its decision to award Microsoft a contract as the sole provider of desktop and server software. The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) cited the recent Internet worm that targeted Microsoft software, as well as the dangers of not having system diversity.

THE MISSING LINK
Self-parking Toyota -- look Ma, no hands!

Do you remember Toyota's old slogan, "You asked for it, you got it"? Well, evidently, someone asked for a car that could park itself. And they got it. The company is now selling a Prius model in Japan that can park itself without the driver touching the wheel. The car uses electrically operated power steering and sensors to help guide the car as it reverses into parking spaces -- kinda like cruise control for the parking lot. As far as parking technology goes, it's without parallel.
