Mark Minasi live! NT4 -- hold 'em or fold 'em
Who: Mark Minasi, best-selling author
When: Sept. 16, 2003 at 2 p.m. (ET)
It's the beginning of the end for Windows NT. Or at least Microsoft says so. But in the wake of the release of Windows Server 2003 -- and with nearly half of the installed enterprise Windows base still running NT4 -- we asked supreme Alpha geek Mark Minasi to share his views on when an operating system as popular as NT 4.0 truly becomes obsolete. In today's live webcast, Minasi will discuss how to decide when -- or if -- to leave NT 4.0; the security hole that might just FORCE you to leave NT 4.0; and pointers for making upgrades cheaper and easier (if you decide to move).

Hide or deny access to certain shared folders
Dear Roberta:
Is there a way to prevent a user from seeing the folders on the server? Most of the folders they cannot get into, but some are shared for everyone. If they were to be able to get in there, I can see the potential for mischief. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Germans go wild with new webcams
![]()
There's a lot of shooting going on in the western forests of Germany. But don't call PETA just yet -- webcams are doing the shooting. The German Protection of Hunting Association has set up cameras from one end of the woods to the other so that non-hunters can see what hungry wild boars and frisky deer do when they don't think anyone is looking. Can you say "stag party"? The Web wildness can be found at www.wildtiere-live.de.
