Windows XP Professional has some nice new features, not the least of which is a smooth upgrade process, says Paul Hinsberg. The Windows migration expert offered some advice on proper planning and testing for a move to XP.

Fired Windows report author sounds off (eWEEK)
Dan Geer, the security expert fired a day after the release of a report critical of Microsoft, said his dismissal from the consultancy AtStake came as a complete shock. Geer, one of the authors of the report that called for software diversity, said his findings were no different than what he has already said in numerous speeches and other papers. Geer also said that many academic-based security experts were afraid to sign on to the paper that led to his downfall at AtStake.
