THE MISSING LINK
Ring jumps king -- mobile 'mates chess champ

"Can you hear me now? Ooooh, sorry!" A chess champ turned into a chess chump when his mobile phone rang during a game. It wasn't just any game; it was the European Team Championships. A Ukrainian grandmaster was playing a Swede when the call came. Evidently, it was his birthday, so any number of well-wishers could have been calling. He probably wishes they had left him well enough alone. Or that he had switched off his mobile. Cell phones and chess tournaments don't mix -- players could receive advice during the game or even use their phones to access online databases of chess moves.
