SYSTEM.CED IS MISSING? PROBABLY NOT| by Serdar Yegulalp

When Windows 2000 and Windows XP (both Home and Professional) begin
the boot process, a 16 MB memory space is allocated for loading
components needed for booting. These components include the boot
loader, the kernel, the HAL, the drivers needed for booting and the
System registry hive. If the hive exceeds 13 MB in size, for whatever
reason, Windows will fail to boot and generate the following error:
"Windows could not start because \Winnt\System32\Config\System.ced is
missing or corrupt." Here's the real story behind this error.

QUICKLY RESOLVE UNKNOWN EVENT IDs | by Tim Fenner

Find out how to use www.EventID.net to quickly resolve your Event
IDs. Site members submit and share their experiences with the Event
IDs they resolve; plus the site allows nonmembers to search through
the posts by both the Event ID number and source. And now, Microsoft
joins the bandwagon.

EXPANDING A WIN2K SERVER PARTITION | Ask James Michael Stewart

Dear James:
My Win2k server is installed on a 4 GB partition. It has run out of
space, and I need to expand the partition. There is an additional 33
GB available. How do I expand the partition to make the extra space
utilized?

INCREASING FILE SHARES IN WIN2K PRO | Ask Serdar Yegulalp

Dear Serdar:
I have read that you can alter a registry key in Windows 2000 Pro to
enable some of the functions of Win2k server. The one I would like is
to enable me to increase the number of file shares from the maximum
of 10 to an infinite number (30 would do). This is the only server
feature I require, and to purchase the server is an expensive
solution. Do you know how I can do this?
