Hackers waste little time exploiting flaws (InformationWeek)
Hackers are working like Santa's elves -- only their "toys" are programs that will exploit the recently revealed security flaws in Windows Workstation Service. Exploit code started popping up hours after Microsoft went public with patch information. Security experts say it's not worm time just yet, but that could change.

MS to throw developers a BizDesk bone (CRN)
Microsoft is working on a "bone" to throw solution providers who're not too happy with Commerce Server's Business Desk. MS will create an interim release so site developers or managers can develop and use Web commerce applications (and not have to wait for the next full version of Commerce Server in 2005). The "bone" should be ready by the first half of 2004.

IT SURVIVAL KIT
Why can't I create new AD objects?
If a domain controller attempts to create a new object before it receives a new RID set, the object will not be created. This produces an error, which is recorded in the Directory Services event log with an event ID of 16645. When this error appears in the event log, or you find yourself unable to create new objects, you need to resolve the issue. Here's how you do it.

THE MISSING LINK
A site to die for
![]()
When LifeTouch sends you an e-mail, you'd better hope your spam guard removes his hat and lets the message pass. LifeTouch customers write up their last messages, store them on the company's Web site and then, when the sweet chariot swings low, the company sends out the last e-mails. The idea behind the service is for subscribers to pass on loving last messages to friends and family, but you've got to think some people will want to send a few choice last words to a certain Nigerian prince. The site has some pretty strong safeguards to make sure the customers are, in fact, dead, so those posthumous posts don't go out prematurely.
