Whether you use Group Policy or plan to in the near future, there is
much to learn from the guy who wrote the [Sybex] book on Group
Policy. By itself, Group Policy can bring structure to any Active
Directory environment. However, when paired with Policy Maker, Group
Policy's management capabilities are literally doubled to provide
total control of desktops and servers in an extensible way that is
fully sanctioned by Microsoft.

POWER TO THE USER (WELL, JUST A LITTLE) | by Serdar Yegulalp

Conventional Windows 2000 users do not have the right to change the
default power schemes that are set up on a PC. The only way to allow
them to change power schemes is to grant them administrator access.
However, many administrators balk at doing this. Fortunately there's
a solution to this problem that does not involve putting users into
the administrator group. It involves editing permissions in the
registry that control which users can have access to the keys that
govern power management.

MANAGING DISTRIBUTION LISTS IN EXCHANGE 2000 | by Adesh Rampat

In earlier versions of Exchange, managing a distribution list from
the Outlook client required the administrator to assign his/her
mailbox as the owner of the Distribution List to be managed. But that
was then (for some of us), and this is now. With Exchange 2000, the
procedure for assigning a user to manage a Distribution List is just
a bit different.

DISABLE CONNECTIONS IN WIN2K PRO | by Serdar Yegulalp

One of the most common administrative configurations of desktop
machines is the use of network drive mappings -- assigning a drive
letter on a workstation to a share on a server. Most people are used
to drive letters rather than the servershare naming convention
(referred to as UNC shares) and some programs won't recognize UNC
shares, either.

LOADING THE 'SERVER' SERVICE IN WIN2K PRO | Ask Jerry Honeycutt

Dear Jerry,
I am running Windows 2000 Professional. Under services, I don't see
the "Server" service. I know it should be listed, but for some reason
it isn't. I need to know what steps I need to take to get this
service loaded.
