LEAD STORY
Microsoft to reshuffle Windows unit  (CNET)
Microsoft on Monday announced the creation of a new Windows Core division that will focus specifically on developing Longhorn, the next generation of its flagship operating system software. The unit will be headed by Brian Valentine, who had been in charge of all Windows-based efforts, but is now expected to have his responsibilities narrowed to the creation of Longhorn.

Windows XP SP2 unlike most service packs (TechWeb)
The beta for Windows XP Service Pack 2 contains so many new features that one analyst calls it Windows XP 2.0. Microsoft Monitor's Joe Wilcox said that most service packs are just a compilation of previously released fixes, but this one contains a host of new features, including a new API that blocks certain file attachments and a "security zone" that prevents abuse of Windows' Remote Procedure Call (RPC).

    Roaming profile errors
    Dear Jerry:
My Win2000 Pro computers are part of a domain, and users use roaming profiles. I recently received this error message: "Windows can't log you on because the profile can't be loaded. There is not enough space on the disk." I deleted the user's profile in Control Panel and asked him log back in: no error message popped up. However, a few days later, the problem happened again on the same computer under his account.

    THE MISSING LINK
    Former cop, Cougar reunited

Thanks to the Internet, a Florida man will get his car back -- 20 years after someone stole it from outside his Bronx home. The man, a former NYPD detective, had given up the ghost -- or in this case, the 1968 Mercury Cougar -- years ago. But thanks to an Internet community of Cougar collectors, one of whom was doing some research on a Cougar he saw for sale in a New York newspaper, man and machine will be reunited. Another man will be united with charges of possession of stolen property.
