Log Parser 2.0 is a command-line program that allows a user or administrator to run SQL-like queries against log files of almost any format currently in use. The results can be reported to the console, to a flat text file or to a SQL/ODBC database. >> CLICK for the full expert tip: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid1_gci942371,00.html?track=NL-120 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= USE THE SHADOW COPY CLIENT | Serdar Yegulalp One of the new features in Windows 2003 is the Shadow Copy Restore function, which prevents data loss by creating backup copies (called "shadow" copies) of files and folders when they are modified, or at predetermined intervals. >> CLICK here for the full expert tip: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid1_gci925752,00.html?track=NL-120 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= EASILY REMOVE .TMP FILES | Alpesh Nakar All programs and applications create .tmp files. It's really important to remove them on a regular basis, especially on a network. >> CLICK for the full member-submitted tip: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid1_gci940375,00.html?track=NL-120 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= WINDOWS CAN'T ACCESS REGISTRY INFORMATION | Ask Serdar Yegulalp Dear Serdar, On our user workstations, every couple of hours we get an App Log entry for Userenv, Event 1000, User System, which reads: "Windows cannot access the registry information." This error is strange in that the user can access the policy file directly, so this appears to be a problem just on startup. I have tried to chase this down but to no avail. The most prevalent reference is to DNS but we have no DNS issues that I can find. >> CLICK for Serdar Yegulalp's expert response: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/infoCenter/askTheExpertsAnswer/0,294272,sid1_gci941879_tax294655,00.html?track=NL-120 Want more tips like this one?
