MS CERTIFICATION 2003: A LOOK BACK AND A LOOK AHEAD | Ed Tittel

With 2003 coming to a close and a new year in the offing, I pause to
reflect on the year's big stories in Microsoft certification and to
ponder what to expect in years to come. Overall, I'm seeing signs
that Microsoft wants to improve its certification offerings by
soliciting and acting on input from customers (those who hire
certified professionals) and technical professionals (those who get
certified).

MICROSOFT SECURITY CERTS: ARE THEY WORTH THE WORK? | Ed Tittel

Microsoft has a Windows Server 2003 version of its security
specializations for MCSEs and MCSAs. Since Microsoft has yet to
explain how holders of a security specialization can upgrade their
credentials from Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2003, I'd like to
examine the credentials side-by-side, propose a potential upgrade
path and explain how those who pursue a security specialization over
the short term can optimize their future Windows 2003 upgrade
options.

HOW CAN I SET UP A WINDOWS 2000 SERVER TEST LAB? | Ask Ed Tittel

Dear Ed,
Does simulation software exist for Windows 2000 Server for setting up
a test lab similar to what MCP magazine mentions this month for 2003
and Windows XP? I have three computers set up on a switch on which I
have been doing my testing for Windows 2000 certifications. I have
70-210 and 70-215 completed, and I was wondering about testing for
the Exchange and SQL Server exams. I don't know what's involved in
those tests, so I don't know what I will need.
