We've all been there -- somehow your network is down to a single domain controller and that last Active Directory host system goes down. Your only hope to restore the network is to rebuild the domain from backups. However, you find yourself faced with a conundrum -- the repaired domain controller computers are no longer comprised of the same hardware as before. >> CLICK for the full expert tip: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid1_gci943152,00.html?track=NL-23 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= BREAK GROUP MEMBERSHIP CEILINGS | James Michael Stewart A fresh install of a Windows 2000 domain controller imposes a strange limitation on the number of groups in which a user account can be a member. The limitation is about 70 groups. This happens because of the way Microsoft employed an empty field in a Kerberos token. The overall size of the Kerberos token is 12,000 bits, and because of the space allocation to list user-group memberships, it becomes full once about 70 groups are used. When this allocation becomes full, it causes an error in the Kerberos token processing, which can cause problems. >> CLICK here for the full expert tip: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid1_gci938328,00.html?track=NL-23 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ESTABLISHING A TRUST RELATIONSHIP WITH AD | Ask Paul Hinsberg Dear Paul, A domain trust error is driving me crazy! I have two Active Directory Windows domains: Domain A and Domain B. The domain controllers are running Windows 2000 Server with SP3. I am trying to establish a trust relationship using the "Active Directory Domains and Trusts," but each time I try to add Domain A as a trusted domain by Domain B, I receive error messages! >> CLICK to read Paul Hinsberg's expert response: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid557256_tax285115,00.html?track=NL-23 Want more tips like this one?
