What do Lee Benjamin, Roberta Bragg, Larry Duncan, Laura Hunter, Paul Hinsberg and Jeremy Moskowitz have in common -- aside from being members of SearchWin2000.com's expert team or advisory board?
All were recently awarded the designation of Microsoft's Most Valuable Professional (MVP) status. We are especially happy about this news because when it comes to choosing our experts, we already knew we had picked some of the best and brightest from the Windows IT community. It turns out that Microsoft thinks we do a pretty good job as well.
So what exactly is an MVP anyway? The designation of MVP is Microsoft's way of recognizing an individual status as an active and credible expert in their respective technical communities. These individuals also demonstrate a level of technical passion regarding their expertise with Microsoft products.
What goodies do they get? They don't get paid but they do get some free software. MVPs can travel to Redmond to attend the annual spring MVP Summit. At the conference, MVPs usually get access to Microsoft executives who are happy to participate in a two-way dialog about products, strategy and anything else that touches customers.
The MVP program has been around for about 11 years and includes about 1,800 members. Recipients don't have to be technical consultants, by the way, though many are. In the past, Microsoft's MVPs have come from such diverse backgrounds as artists, authors, developers and business managers, to name a few.
We are especially proud of our experts and offer them congratulations and appreciation for a job that is always well done.

Featured Expert: Jerry Honeycutt
Category: Desktop Administration
Dear Jerry:
How can I reduce roaming profile size? I want users to keep a profile of 15 MB so that new software keeps the application data outside of the profile. Currently we use Windows NT and many users can't log out because new software like Netscape and Adobe puts a lot of data in the application folder of the roaming folder.

Avoiding Active Directory trouble spots
Active Directory still finds ways to vex IT managers, with most issues occurring in the design phases. | Tip of the Week: Build an affordable practice lab at home |
| Everybody who knows anything about the current crop of Microsoft certification exams knows that hands-on practice, "interface driving" skills and experience are more important than ever before. This raises the question of how to get that kind of experience. One way is to install an affordable test network at home and practice everything you can on it. |
