Microsoft picks new fight with Linux, IBM (CNET)
Martin Taylor, Microsoft's point man on competition from Linux, is turning his attention to the issue of interoperability in comparing the two operating systems. Taylor points to a new study by Jupiter Research -- funded by Microsoft -- that found that 72% of respondents had a favorable view of Microsoft's interoperability with other software. That was the highest figure for a software company, followed by vendors who either make Linux-based applications or support it. Rivals questioned the validity of the research.

    NEWS
MyDoom DoS attack on Microsoft falters (TechWeb)
As predicted by security experts, the Mydoom-B worm failed in its attempt to bring down Microsoft's Web site on Tuesday. A combination of sloppy code writing by the worm's author and protective measures taken by Microsoft are seen as the chief reasons why Microsoft was able to sidestep the threat.

    THE MISSING LINK
Booble puts the 'ogle' in 'Google'

If Google were the NFL, then Booble would be Janet Jackson. The ubiquitous search engine company is steaming mad that Booble, a search engine that finds adult material, has turned Google's household name into a pornographic parody. Google wants Booble to find a name and a look that aren't pornified versions of Google's. Perhaps "LookSmut" instead of LookSmart, or "Ask Sleaze" instead of Ask Jeeves. Booble is undaunted by the gaggle of Google lawyers working to burst Booble's bubble. "Only a lawyer could say 'Booble' without smiling," said a representative.
