THE MISSING LINK
March 5, 1994 -- a spam is born

If you don't think last Friday was a special day, you are so wrong -- and this has nothing to do with Martha Stewart. In fact, her guilty verdicts probably stole the thunder of spam's 10th birthday. On March 5, 1994, Phoenix law firm Canter and Siegel posted a message to several Usenet newsgroups advertising its services -- and, lo and behold, spam was born. Thanks to them, we're reminded several times a day that our sex lives and credit can be improved, that our loan rates can be reduced, and that our Nigerian prince awaits.
