Gates hints at 2006 Longhorn release

During a session at this week's Gartner ITxpo, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates stirred fresh expectations for the Longhorn version of Windows when he said that recent industry talk about a 2006 release date is "probably valid speculation."


Report: Longhorn beta will come out this year

Microsoft plans a beta release of the client version of Longhorn this year, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
