Gates e-mail reports on security progress
[CNET]
In an e-mail letter to customers on Wednesday, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates said that while information security threats will never be reduced to zero, his company has made strides in making its products more secure. As an example, Gates pointed to the number of security bulletins that Microsoft has issued for its server operating system. In the first 320 days that Windows Server 2003 was available, there were nine bulletins rated "critical" or "important." In contrast, there were 40 such bulletins in the same period for Windows 2000 Server.

ASK THE EXPERTS: Ask Bernie Klinder: System freezes after 10-15 minutes
Dear Bernie:
I am running Windows ME on an 800 MHZ Duron Compaq with a 40 GB hard drive and 64 MB RAM. My problem is that after about 10-15 minutes the system just freezes up. The mouse will not move and I am unable to Ctr-Alt-Dlt, because the keyboard also freezes. The only way I am able to reboot is to turn the computer off and then back on. Any suggestions?

The Missing Link
Becoming one with your inner geek
Ever wonder what kind of geek you truly are?
