Troubleshooting sleep-mode problems
[Serdar Yegulalp]
Most versions of Windows use the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) to enter a number of different low-power consumption modes by the user or after a certain amount of elapsed time without activity. There are five different power states available to Windows on an ACPI computer. Occasionally, some of these power states become unavailable. Find out the cause of this problem and how to fix it in this tip.
Using BOOTCFG to change boot parameters
[Serdar Yegulalp]
BOOTCFG is a command-line utility for examining and modifying a Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 system's BOOT.INI file. Two versions of BOOTCFG exist: one that is invoked from the command line within Windows itself, and another which is invoked in the Recovery Console. To learn the difference between the two versions, read this tip.
Expert: Test XP SP2 ASAP
[Laura Hunter]
Thanks to major changes to built-in firewall software, admins need to give the upcoming service pack a trial run or face tribulation later.
The command-line DISKPART utility in Windows
[Serdar Yegulalp]
DISKPART is a command-line utility for manipulating disk partitions in Windows 2000, Windows XP Home and Professional, and Windows 2003 Server. DISKPART can be scripted to perform multiple commands via a text file script, enabling automated, complex partition arrangements not possible through unattended setup files.

How does one control the default window that Windows Explorer opens in Windows 2000? I checked in the registry but did not have much luck.
