Tests to uproot Windows passwords begin
[ZDNet UK]
Microsoft and a partner have begun testing a new generation of authentication technology that they say will be far superior to the password-based system that most companies currently use. The program involves a combination of a user-created password and a "SecurID" token, which is a small device that generates a six-digit code every minute. Microsoft is working with RSA Security on the project.
IBM opens up high-end Windows options
[CNET]
IBM has loosened some of the restrictions that it and Microsoft have placed on Microsoft's version of Windows for the data center. The server requirements for Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition were intentionally restrictive to lessen the risk of crashes. Observers say the new move should greatly increase the potential pool of customers for the OS -- as well as make it about 30% cheaper.

The Missing Link: Study leaves Google, Yahoo searching
[Reuters]
The sultans of search just can't compete with the sultans of smut. Evidently, most Americans would rather ogle than google.
