Microsoft readies security-minded Windows update

Windows XP Service Pack 2 is still on track for release this summer, according to Microsoft, which on Monday released its second test version of the OS update. Release Candidate 2 for SP2 had been delayed because of compatibility issues, Microsoft watchers say.

Future of servers is Windows and Linux on Intel

The Linux-Windows debate is a moot argument, according to experts speaking at a Microsoft seminar in the UK. Instead, enterprises need to focus on server consolidation in which Linux and Windows servers -- on Intel-based hardware -- will run in the same environment.
