Microsoft publishes 50 tweaks for XP SP2

Microsoft has published on its Web site a list of some 50 Windows and third-party vendor applications that need to be modified in order for XP SP2 to work. MS also says that users may need to manually open network ports for Visual Studio .NET development tools and SMS 2003 products to work with the pack.

Security expert: Windows easy to 'own'

Security expert David Aitel says that Windows is easy to own -- and that's not a good thing. In this case, 'own' refers to a hacker taking over a machine. Aitel says that Windows is easier to take over than Linux. Aitel has experience hacking both Windows and Linux.

Political correctness may have been overcorrected in this case. A boss in the U.K. has been told that her ad for 'hard-working' warehouse employees discriminates against people who are lazy. Officials with a job center in Southampton said that such controversial words as 'hard working' are only okay if they're used with a clear job description. In the meantime, they will continue to give a voice to shiftless couch potatoes everywhere who are too busy watching telly to speak for themselves.
