Security outsourcing to soar

As much as 90% of IT security functions will be outsourced by 2010, according to a report from the Yankee Group, which said the market for managed security services will be worth $3.7 billion by then.

Microsoft launches UK contract war against Linux

Microsoft appears to have won its second head-to-head battle for a government contract in the UK. Redmond picked up the three-year contract with the Office of Government Commerce after the agency tried out Linux in its "Netproject." Microsoft also recently won a smaller software contract with London's Newham borough.
