The Missing Link

Turn off, log off, freak out
[CNET News.com]
Can you imagine going two weeks without the Net? Try cyber limbo -- you'll likely long to log on, ache for your inbox, jones for Jeeves, pine for PayPal and yearn to Yahoo. In a recent study, 28 cybercitizens went cold turkey for two weeks. It wasn't pretty. Besides the boredom and inability to ping, the Netless guinea pigs said that co-workers looked at them differently. Why? Because when they read the newspaper and called friends from their cubicles, they gave off a slacker vibe. This may validate an important point -- that if you stare and frown at the monitor hard enough, you'll look busy -- even if you're just reading the bios of The Real World's new cast or elf bowling.
