CHAPTER OF THE WEEK:  'Hardening wireless LAN communications'
Wireless LANs bring up the classic struggle between security and usability. Too tight security chokes off the potential benefits of the WLAN, but too lax security leaves your sensitive data open to attackers. This chapter from the book "Hardening Network Infrastructure," by Wesley Noonan, explains how to balance the two in a sensible manner.

TIP OF THE DAY:  Using TEMP tables
Many SQL Server databases use TEMP or temporary tables to store information used in processing data. TEMP tables can be a convenient way to organize data sets that are too large to be stored in variables, transient data used in calculations, and data that changes so frequently that it doesn't make sense to store it in a permanent table.

The Missing Link

Internet attack? May lightning strike us down!
[SearchSecurity.com]
A poll by the National Cyber Security Alliance found 30% to 40% of respondents think it's more likely they'll get hit by lightning than hit with an Internet attack.
