Longhorn development raising virus concerns
[E-Commerce Times]
A Symantec official says a scripting tool that is planned for Longhorn could be a vehicle for the creation of malicious code. Microsoft said security features in Longhorn will prevent that.

[CNET News.com]
Marc Andreessen, a former executive of Netscape, says Apple's Safari and Mozilla's Firefox are a potent combined threat to Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser. He predicted that the renewed competition will force Microsoft to add more features to IE to maintain its dominant position.

The Missing Link

It's for nerds, stupid
[SearchEnterpriseLinux.com]
Politics.slashdot.org, a new Web site from the technology and news forum Slashdot.org, could be a boon to political pundits who love seeing page views skyrocket after their story gets picked up. Insiders call it the "Slashdot effect." But the big debate could be over whether articles featuring Ralph Nader will siphon away page views from pro-Kerry story submissions, or will one lucky poster have their Slashdot story become Bush's October Surprise?
