Microsoft feels the wrath of Big Red
By John Hogan, Senior News Editor

IBM may have finally found a way to get back at Microsoft for pulling out of OS/2 -- and to make Big Blue feel better about its monumental mistake of ceding the operating system market to Redmond in the 1980s. Call it the revenge of Big Red.

Big Red is the clever moniker that BDA China consultant Duncan Clark attached to the tandem created by sale of IBM's PC business to China's Lenovo Group. While IBM has been on an "I Love Linux" campaign to the detriment of Microsoft in recent years, the hardware giant has a greater potential to harm Redmond's core business by arming the Chinese with a powerful brand.

Chapter of the Week: 'Group Policy Objects (GPOs)'
Need help managing or troubleshooting your GPOs? Then this chapter is for you. Get ready for an extensive run-down of various GPO-related problems and hands-on solutions to everything from GPO backup issues to applying stubborn GPO security filters.

Tip of the Day: Perform bulk changes with ADModify
Many administrators find themselves with the need to make modifications to multiple users at once using the same values. While Windows 2003 does have limited ability to modify multiple objects, it still lacks granularity and flexibility. For example, you can select and modify multiple users, groups or computers within Active Directory Users & Computers. Enter Microsoft's ADModify version 2.0. This tool, whose current version is referred to as ADModify.NET, gives administrators the ability to mass-manipulate just about every property within user, group, contact and public folder objects.
