Chief executive Steve Ballmer is expected to give the keynote address at a summit this year for some of the Most Valuable Professional program's 2,600 members, which include an IT prodigy from Chicago.

Microsoft lays off 62 Windows testers

Microsoft has cut the jobs of 62 people who test the Windows operating system. The company said that even though it has sent many software testing jobs overseas, this round was due to automation in the testing process, not offshore outsourcing.

The Missing Link

Intel debuts showcase digital home

Recognizing that even the socially recluse need their movie fix, Intel has teamed up with actor Morgan Freeman to produce a digital house that showcases new ways of watching movies and TV at home. The house is wired with a PC that can download movies from the Internet and send them to TVs throughout the house. Freeman admitted, however, there was still no way to beam $10 worth of popcorn over the Net to complete the experience.
