This came in this afternoon. Sorry for some of the formatting, it
appears to be a html email :/ It does sound like they are having trouble
finding Python developers, which may mean more perks :)

Hi Brian,

I was doing some networking and came across your name as a highly
respected Open Source professional. I’m hoping you can help me out.
Even if you are not seeking a new job at this time, I wanted to fill you
in on these cool, mid- to senior-level *_Degreed Engineer_* openings.
These are all *_PERM/DIRECT-HIRE (not Contract)_* openings and if you
aren’t interested/available, I would ask that you _please take a moment
to pass this info along to any of your friends/colleagues who have this
type of background_. In this day and age, you never know who may be
forced to make a change tomorrow, who may have family in these parts of
the country, or who may just want to get his/her engines revving again
with a cool new opportunity – so your help to get this info into
the hands of fellow Open Source professionals is appreciated. Once the
info is in the right hands, your buddies can give me a call if they want
more of the juicy details!!

*_Philadelphia, PA Open Source Architect/Developer (4 immediate
openings)_*_:_ We’re seeking highly educated software engineering
professionals (_Masters or PhD in Computer Science preferred_) with _at
least 3 years of professional and current hands-on PYTHON programming
experience in an open source, large-scale, distributed computing
environment_. We’re seeking someone out of a scalable, high-volume
environment (someone who has experience designing at least one
large-scale system that has operated on greater than 20 servers). We
want someone who has experience writing clean code – using source
control and change management tools, ideally in an Agile environment.
And we need someone who has experience in and passion for solving
giant ‘puzzles’, perhaps someone with statistics or algorithms
experience and who has a great attitude for teamwork and company
spirit. If you enjoy working on high volume platforms, architecting
solutions to large scale problems, writing clean code, and working to
build a company from the ground up then we may be interested. We offer
our brilliant minds competitive compensation, EQUITY, a work-hard,
play-hard, fun work environment with flexible hours, free food and a
best-of-breed product. This is a very well-funded VC-backed startup
with amazing potential - think Google or Amazon a few years back. This
is too good to pass up!!

*_Charlotte_**_, NC_**_ Python Backend Developer (2 openings over the
next 3 months):_* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science (BSCS, MSCS
only) from an accredited university is a MUST and 2+ years of commercial
and current Python server-side development experience is required.
You'll need to be able to point us to an actual, active and functioning
link to your code in order to be considered for this opening. Strong
database experience with PostgreSQL and strong XHTML web
templating/Cheetah experience along with a strong passion for and
understanding of Open Source and UNIX architecture. This position is in
a Microsoft-free environment, developing on OSX and deploying on Linux.
Our client is a steadily growing, Charlotte, NC-based commercial
software development firm (they are a product company, not a consulting
or services company). You'll be doing full life cycle development
(analysis, design, architecture, development, testing, etc). And your
creative ideas and input are not only valued here - they are required!!
You won't be just a number here - we want and need your energy and your
ideas to make our products even better!

Again, even if you aren’t interested, PLEASE take a moment to pass this
info along to any other Open Source Developers/Architects you know.
Maybe you can help out one of your buddies – call it career karma!

*** NOTE: Unfortunately, *_NO SPONSORSHIP_* candidates can be
considered at this time. Some relocation assistance is available for
the Pennsylvania openings. But for our Charlotte client, they require
someone already local to NC (or maybe a short relocation from VA or SC).
Unless you are a strong match to the above, with current hands-on
Python/Open Source development and architecture experience and at
minimum a Bachelor’s Degree, we won’t be able to reply to you
immediately. We will, however, keep your resume on file as future
openings arise if it is determined you are not a fit for the current
openings.

Thank you,
