Hello all,
I'd like to pass on some news I received about ResolverOne.
As you may know, ResolverOne is a spreadsheet application written
in Python (IronPython) which uses Python as the scripting language
for cell formulas. There is a companion product which serves the
spreadsheets interactively as web applications and there are other
products for the financial sector for receiving data feeds
(e.g. from Thomson or Bloomberg).
I've used ResolverOne and found it really nice for small spreadsheets.
This is a young and rapidly-evolving application which is also accelerating
IronClad development. It's currently a little slow in the user response
for larger spreadsheets and it is basically Windows-only though rumored to
run on Mono since it is .NET based (I haven't tried this). If these concerns
have deterred you then the following news items may be of some interest:
1. ResolverSystems is planning to phase out all Windows-only components
so in the future sometime ResolverOne should run on linux and Mac.
2. The above changes are also supposed to make the UI more responsive
(a beta version is available with improved responsiveness, though
I haven't tested it yet).
3. On March 31st there is a one-day sale on ResolverOne for $40 (60% off).
The product is a fantastic buy at this price, IMHO, if you have any use for
a spreadsheet. Upgrades seem to be free - I bought ResolverOne a long time
ago and have never been asked for money for upgrades. There is also a 31-day
free trial.
You can see their products here: <http://www.resolversystems.com/products/>
I have no financial interest in this company or product, BTW. Just evangelizing
for python-enabled tools and excited to hear that this ...
Happy coding,
Melissa
