to get flushed to it (something that stdout -> console does for me

well, I think I"d write a subclass of the text widget that has a "write"
method, that adds the new text and calls .Update() (or whatever it os
for Tk). Then you could just drop it in place of stdout. In fact, it's
likely someone has already written such a thing for Tk.
wxPython comes with "Pyshell" or "PyCrust" or somethignn like that that
provides a console.
David, are you still game?
Unfortunately, I've gotten pretty busy since last we talked about
it--I think I have to renege. Sorry. :-(
