This is really funny. You may remember a few months ago I was asking
about Android phones and Python-programmable phones. My phone was
dying and AT&T has spotty coverage in my current apartment. Less than
a month ago I switched to my roommate's T-Mobile account and we got a
3-phone family plan with unlimited texting and more minutes for less
than twice my old plan. Then today I wake up to this:

Ha ha ha. For the first time in my life I thought about switching to
Verizon. I've always stayed away from non-GSM systems to avoid
rewarding companies that don't participate in open standards, but this
may end up overriding that. Although I'll wait to see what actually
happens before doing anything.

By the way, I ended up going with the minimum phone again instead of
android. Email and web and OneBusAway everywhere and custom programs
would be nice, but it's not quite necessary enough for me yet.
