Just a reminder that pip can *not* install binary eggs.
What a great opportunity for someone to contribute! It really shouldn't
be that hard -- installing a binary egg is pretty much just copying it
to the right place. Plenty of complication it determining which binary
egg matches the system, though, particularly on OS-X.
Is see this on the pip PyPi page:
"""
It cannot install from eggs. It only installs from source. (In the
future it would be good if it could install binaries from Windows .exe
or .msi -- binary install on other platforms is not a priority.)
"""
so it's on the list. However, I think they are wrong about other
platforms not being a priority -- it should be on OS-X, too, building
binaries on OS-X can be very painful.
