PyCon Japan has been amazing. It's a very well-run and friendly event. It's
a bit rough for non-Japanese speakers, but they've made a dedicated English
track, and many of the conference announcements were made in both English
and Japanese.

They live-streamed all the talks, and the archived videos are up!

I even met another Seattle Python person, Larry Hastings. He's the release
manager for Python 3.4, so we'll have to twist his arm to give a talk at
SeaPIG at some point. :)

Next year Japan will be hosting PyCon Asia Pacific (
http://apac.pycon.org/2012/), which has been hosted by Singapore for the
last three years. They're still working out the details, but I imagine that
it will feature a lot more English next year. They've been actively
recruiting more English speakers as well. So, if you've been looking for an
excuse to visit Japan, this would be a great one!

If enough people are interested, maybe we could arrange a group trip of
some sort.

Start thinking now!

Take care,
-Brian
