Another question, inspired by Lion's message, is whether we want to
invite other groups to do a joint day/weekend with multiple tracks.
There's the Plone and Django groups, the Python meetup, non-Python
programming groups, etc....
The way the last Python Day came about was that the PostgreSQL West
conference rented SCCC and asked if we wanted to do an add-on Python
track on one of their rooms. We declined because the registration fee
was $80 and our members didn't want to be limited by that. Afterward we
booked a separate, smaller event at the same venue. We could branch out
and go a bit larger this time. Or conversely, see if there are any local
conferences this year we could PIGgyback on. (Yuk, yuk.) Any of this
would increase the organizing work, however.
perhaps we should have a special seapig meeting to gauge interest in
event planning, and for further brainstorming? probably the sooner the
better, while it's on peoples' minds.
