Thanks. But your motherboard is different in that it 
essentially has a Soundblaster PCI 128 onboard. The Microstar board is 
more modest: the sound is provided by the KT133 chipset itself. 
Xconfigurator will choose the via82cxxx driver for the Microstar.

Hmmm ... with the new kernel out perhaps I should give the VIA driver 
another try. Xconfigurator is a lot easier to deal with than all that 
manuall fiddling and compiling for the ALSA drivers.
