it doesn't document everything because this is a different type of
environment. Development stuff for MS DOS/Windows is
basically a program, whereas under a UNIX environment, it's just one of
those "part of the system" things. UNIX isn't considered a beginners
atmosphere. It's for those with extensive networking and C programming
experience even though now adays it's used by those who can't even use the
mouse (don't ask me why people get into things they have no understanding
of).
Best place to find ANSI C function explanations if you can't find them in
the man pages would be on the web someplace. Find a search engine and go
for it. Reading documentation included with non-standard libraries (ie.
GTK+, etc) helps when using such things.
