Hmmm

It sounds to me like what you may want is to install vnc server on the
second
machine and access it with a vnc client. This gives you the X windows on
the first
machine running natively and a window containing the desktop from the
second
machine. I have used this before and it worked well.

I currently use ssh to connect to remote servers and just launch the gui
applications though the automatically created X11 forwarding. The
application
then shows up just like a local application. For example in a terminal
window
connected to a remote server via ssh with X11 forwarding enabled :

enter "linuxconf"

and a linuxconf from the remote machine shows up.

This also requires less bandwith than vnc, but vnc can be run as a
server or client
under Windows ??? , MacO/S and a plethora of other platforms.
