/proc is in RAM, thus you cannot delete it.  Do you have 512 RAM?
Check /var (if it is not on it's own partition), especially /var/log.  I
usually do a `du -h > du.txt` and then check out the du.txt file to see
which directories use a lot of space.  How big is you disk?  What other
partitions do you have?

Did you use Xconfigurator (or Xconfigurator --preferxf4), and choose the
resolution?
