Switching to/from dial-up network access?

In previous versions of RedHat Linux (versions 5.x and 6.x) it was a real 
PITA to switch between an Ethernet device and dial-up for networking.  

I usually use an Ethernet NIC, but want to occasionally use a dial-up 
account.  How much pain would switching between the 2 be from my KDE 
desktop?  Is there a HOW-TO on it?
