I have did everything you said, uncheck the linear option and tries to run
the /sbin/lilo after setting it to boot=/dev/dd1 but the sbin/lilo still
don't run.

is there anything wrong with this? :

image=/dev/hda1
           root=/dev/hdd1

(this always appear at the end of the 'expert' window after i apply it)
