A few observations .Im a DSL BellDouth customer.I got the Acatel Speed
Touch Home with a lan connection at it's back.
First the kernel that's provided out the box is ok .
Second all i did was this Install Roaring Penguin PPPoE
Configured the lan so the gateway is the card to which the modem is plugged in
configured RP-PPPoE for my user name password, nic card and last i told it
to use masquerading to share the connection.
There is nothing else to it .
Im on it and the whole family enjoys it too..
And by jove is it ever kick ass.I get 150 to close to 250 Kb/s
depending on the server.( and yes way slower too on small servers )
So yes it's PPPoE
Roaring Penguin's PPPoE base and graphic have to be installed
and work GRRRRRReat !
By the way i told them many times that to not support Linux
is a mistake. And i did talk to some customer representatives
that are using it too.Im sorry you fell on some that werent.
PS installation is not mandatory at all.
Never got charged for it either.
If i can be of assistance just yell : )
