Hi All
Here are the /tmp permissions on my machine:

drwxrwxrwt /tmp

At startx, I recently get these messages:

esd daemon unable to create /tmp/.esd directory
esd daemon unable to fix the /tmp/.esd permissions to 1777
esd daemon unable to run the /tmp/.esd/socket unix socket

  And so on.

I tried creating the /tmp/.esd directory, with 1777 permissions, before
running startx, then kept getting the same messages, without the first
one.

Moreover: I removed by error, the ~/.esd_auth file, which contained an
alphanumeric code, I suppose is necessary for the esd deamon be able to do
its job.

What can I do? I wonder whether at which step this esd-auth file is
being created, either at esound rpm install ( probably not ), or another step.

I could remove, then reinstall the esound rpm, I wish to have your
advices before proceeding.

  Many thanks.

  Jean Francois Ortolo
