there may be a better way but I have enabled virtusers in my sendmail.mc
and generated a new sendmail.cf file using the m4 program.
that out of the way...
I then have a virtuser file (/etc/mail/virtuser) that has each user
email address aliasing over to their local mail account and finally at
the bottom of this list, I have @domain.com localaccount so that any
misaddressed mail with the proper domain name will end up being
delivered to that account. If this catchall rule isn't last, it
intercepts mail for all those listed below...bad thing.
This ends up being a big PIA but it is effective enough.
also, you must have /etc/mail/sendmail.cw list all the domain names that
the box will receive mail for and of course, DNS MX records must exist
for those domains.
