Greetings!

I have an installation problem. I own a PC 800 MHZ PIII with 20 Gig IDE
disk. This is one of those custom made systems where the Soundcard, Video
card and 3D accelerator are attached to the mainboard.

This mainboard uses the GFX PRO chipset which integrates a 3D 128-bit AGP
Graphics Accelerator and has an embedded 10BaseT/100BaseTX Network
Interface. The mainboard has a built-in PCI 3D Sound System. In addition the
board has a full set of ATX I/O Ports including PS/2 keyboard and mouse
ports, two USB ports, a parallel port, a serial port and a VGA port.
It supports front-side bus speeds of 66MHz, 100MHz or 133MHz.

So what happenes is that my system freezes when I try to install Red Hat 7.1
from the CD. I have tried using both the text interface, and the X graphical
interface. It freezes at different points during the installation process.
Usually when it is copying the Images to the hard drive. It has reached the
package installation process once.

Do you have any idea about what could be happening?

I have also had problems when I was trying to install Windows 2000 on the
same machine. Win 2000 gave me errors about the Hard Drive being corrupt but
it seems to be ok. At least I can install and run Windows 98 on it. I also
tried formatting the drive with Partition Magic and it didn't report any bad
clusters on the drive, neither did Disk Druid when I checked the "bad
cluster check" checkbox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's terrible being without a
computer :o(
