that's rather  easy  to explain and  correct.
both gmc  and  nautilus  are running  at the  same  time  
gmc is  gnome  midnight  commander.
This is a  classic.when you  try to remove  the second  icon  both get  removed.
Two cases  ..the  old  control center first 
To stop  this go into the Gnome control center.Session ...  startup programs  and  
applications
then  at  the  bottom  right click browse  the  currently running  applications.
you  will see  both  Nautilus  and  GMC 
simply  stop GMC  and remove from the startup list.Log out  saving  the session ( i 
prefer to 
do this  manually rather than automatically ..that's also in the  sessioc properties ) 
Next  time  you start Gnome  all should  be  normal 
In the  new  ( beta  ) Ximian CC  go to  advanced  ,then  startup  programs,  got to 
the
startup programs  tab  and  hit  the  browse  currently  running 
the  same  applies  remove  gmc.
