(I also asked on about this on the sound list earlier today, but someone there
wrote me back privately suggesting that it would be a good idea to ask on the
Seawolf list as well -- if you get this as a dup, apologies...)

I have a new 1.5GHz P4 machine which has sound built in on the motherboard:
Intel 82820 820 (Camino2) AC'97 Audio and MPU401 (I have both enabled on the
MB). I am running rh7.1 with the 2.4.3-12 kernel (i686, single cpu version).

On the positive side, sndconf finds and identifies the 820 and seems to work
fine for wave & .au files using the i810_audio and ac97_codec modules.

However, the MPU401 is not detected and I have not figured out how to get it to
do so.

The mpu-401 is enabled in the bios, but sndconfig does not find it.

Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated, since I have a pair of apps
which depend on the MPU401 stuff and won't run without it.

Or am I out of luck here? (FWIW, I have already tried the oss commercial
drivers, but so far, the free ones in rh 7.1 actually work better).

Thanks,

Bill Austin
