Yep, obtain the technical specifications for the video card from
the manufacturer's website if possible, or via some NDA agreement
if they require that.  Read the XFree86 "DESIGN" document located
in the source tree at:  xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/docs

and code away.  ;o)
