I have had trouble with my LJ 1100 since upgrading to 7.1 as well. It hangs after printing a small but random number of pages. Restarting the lpd service unhangs it only for it to get stuck again shortly thereafter. I have been able to make it "work" by using the generic laserjet driver, although that limits the resolution to 300 dpi (definitely less than satisfactory, but better than nothing.)
