I have a Gateway 2000 9500 laptop, and have successfully installed RH 7.1. A couple of nights ago, I left the laptop logged into KDE, and went to do something else, and when I returned, the screen was blank. I tried to get it to wake up using the mouse and keyboard, but it wouldn't. I ended up shutting off the power.
The problem occurred when I restarted it. LILO was doing its thing, and "Loading Linux" came up and went through its "dots", but when the loading of initrd began, a couple of "dots" in, I got a "crc error - System halted" message. I tried restarting again, and it booted fine. Since then, this has happened intermittently. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.
