Hello,

I can highly recommend cdbkup. It supports compression (which I
didn't think I really needed, but turns out to be very nice);
incremental backups; multiple volumes; and it creates tarballs, so you
could conceivably restore your data without using the restore program
that comes with cdbkup. It also supports backing up over a network
using ssh, with the option of compressing the data on the remote
machine or on the local one.

Search for it on Freshmeat.

HTH,
Ben
